Another Pastor fondling lady followers' vagina

A spiritual pastor in Adenta, a suburb of Accra, is in police grips following accusations that he fondled the private parts of his lady followers.“What he does is that when the victims went for healing, he stripped them naked and covered their faces and asked them to sleep on a mat that he had spread in his consultation room. Then he will ask them to open their thighs, pour some concoction into their private parts and stir with his hands,” Superintendent of police, Stephen Ahiatafor told Joy News.According to him, the said pastor whose name he will not disclose will ask victims to open their eyes after he brings out mysterious items he purports to have removed from their private parts.He then attributes the childlessness of his victims to those mysterious items.The spiritual pastor, police say has been practicing for 15 years.The police superintendent has asked female victims of the church who have fallen prey to the wanton abuse by this pastor to assist with investigations.This report comes barely a week after another Teshie based pastor was found guilty for ‘cleansing’ the private parts of his lady followers.He was fined by the La Magistrate Court to pay an amount of GH¢ 600.00

Catholic Priest condemns gender discrimination

The Reverend Father Dr Paul Atta-Nsiah, Vicar General of the Konongo-Mampong Diocese of the Catholic Church, has raised concern about gender discrimination which, he said, was keeping many young girls away from school. The result has been the unacceptable high rate of teenage pregnancies and growing numbers of street children. He was speaking at the inauguration of Saint Mary's Girls Senior High School at Konongo in the Asante-Akim North Municipality. The ceremony was also used to raise funds to support the school, established in 2007, by the Church to help to promote girl-child development in the area.The Reverend Father Dr Atta-Nsiah said it was important that young girls were assisted to build self-confidence through education. He said it should not be lost on anyone that a reasonable level of education for girls would not only help them to become more assertive but also enable them to make quality contribution to the progress of society."Education has the capacity to foster development, awaken talents and empower and protect the rights of the girl-child," the Rev Father said.

Tema Newtown Catholic Church builds GH¢200,000 edifice

The Most Reverend Gabriel Charles Palma- Buckle, Accra Catholic Metropolitan Archbishop at the weekend, dedicated an ultra-modern church building of the St Peters Catholic Church at Tema Newtown, constructed at the cost of GH¢200,000. The church founded in 1967 was an outstation of Our Lady of Mercy (OLAM) Parish at Community Two. With an initial membership of 10, the congregation now stands at 700.Land for the project was provided by the Tema Traditional Council. Archbishop Palma-Buckle, who consecrated the building amidst funfair by the congregation, paid tribute to the founding fathers for their faith and commitment to God.He said it was gratifying to note that the seeds sown four decades ago, "have today borne such an abundance of fruits as witnessed by this magnificent building and by your lively faith", he said.Archbishop Palma-Buckle called on Christians to let their hearts remain the faithful temples of God and lead sanctified lives. The Very Rev. Father Gabriel Liashiedzi, Parish Priest of OLAM Catholic Church, expressed the hope that members of the St Peters Church would rededicate their lives and talents to the glory and honour of God. Mr Clemence Abodakpi, Chairman of the Parish Pastoral Council of St Peters' Catholic Church, lauded Archbishop Emeritus Dominic Kodwo, the Parish Priest, the Parish Pastoral Council and the congregation for their dedication and sacrifices towards the successful completion of the project.

Archbishop who shot at court premises to open defence

Two witnesses have testified before a Tarkwa Circuit Court, in a case involving the 63- year- old Founder of the Christ Imitation Church at Asankragwa, Archbishop Kofi Atobrah Boadu who is charged for firing shots at the court premises. The plea for bail by Archbishop Boadu was not granted. He would however open his defence on Monday, June 8.The two witnesses were the Prosecutor of the Asankragwa Magistrate court, Chief Inspector Vincent Bebli and Detective Sergeant William Dafeamekpor of the Tarkwa Divisional Police Station. Sergeant Dafeamekpor told the court, presided over by Justice Samuel Obeng Diawuo that on the day of the incidence, he was on duty when the accused person was arrested and was being interrogated. He said the accused person told the police that he went to the court premises to ask the magistrate to settle a case involving him amicably.Sergeant Dafeamekpor said the accused person was later asked by his outfit to surrender a weapon he was wielding including the necessary document, which he did. He said the document had record of a registered revolver, which the accused failed to surrender.Four witnesses have initially testified before the court. They include the Magistrate of Asankragwa District Court, Justice John Evans Ocran, the Bailiff, Paul Anin, the Registrar, Richard Klu and the Assistant Registrar, Kwaku Eshun. The four witnesses, who testified against the accused were unanimous that the accused came to the court raging with anger and started insulting the Magistrate saying: "where is that foolish man, that foolish Magistrate who passes foolish judgment in this court." They said attempt by personnel of the court to calm him down proved futile.The accused left the premises and returned threatening: "I'm prepared to kill and kill myself." The witnesses said when the Magistrate arrived at the court premises the accused person, who had parked his vehicle close to him, got out and started insulting him. Archbishop Boadu subsequently pulled out a gun and shot, after the Magistrate had gone to his office, but no pellet came out. He went back into his vehicle and came out with another pistol and fired a shot at the court building at a distance of about eight metres.

Pope's representative calls for investment in child education

Most Reverend Leon Kelenga, the Apostolic Nuncio on Saturday said investment in the promotion of children education now remained the best way forward to secure Africa's holistic development in the future. He said provision of education to the children of today was the proper tool for the acquisition of knowledge to empower them to lead not only descent lives as individuals but become useful citizens to the society. Most Reverend Kelenga who is Pope Benedict XVI's representative and Vatican Ambassador to Ghana was giving a homily at the Christ the King Cathedral in Sunyani as the official celebrant of a special church service for an investiture ceremony on four senior diocesan priests of the Sunyani Catholic Diocese. The four clergymen were honoured with the title of Monsignor on August 18, 2008 by the Pope for their devoted and meritorious services to the church in various capacities.They included Rev. Monsignors John Oppong-Baah, 62 years and Spiritual Director of Saint Paul's Major Seminary at Sowutuom near Achimota in Accra since 2001 and John Kwame Nkrumah, aged 57 and now on sabbatical leave in the United States of America and was a former parish priest of Saint Theresa's parish at Berekum from 2002-2005. The rest were Rev. Monsignors Boachie-Gyan, 57 years and currently Dean of Kwasibourkrom Deanery of the Church in the Jaman South District and Richard Kyeremeh, aged 56 and presently Dean of the Sunyani Deanery is also the administrator of the Christ the King Cathedral since 2000.Most Reverend Kelenga added that every leadership role should leave behind it a memorable footprint of excellence without love and sacrifice that portrayed Jesus Christ as a model Good Shepherd of humankind.The Apostolic Nuncio therefore emphasized that since life now was not rosy but had a lot of challenges, "we only have to persist and persevere in our endeavours before success and victory can be achieved". He stressed that, Christ-like love was the lubricant for fellow-feeling, unity and peaceful co-existence in every community, adding that, since in Jesus Christ there were no traits and sentiments of ethnocentrisms, discrimination, and partiality, "we must strive to be united as the vehicle to promote our general well-being". Rev. Monsignor Oppong-Baah, on their behalf gave glory to the Almighty God and expressed appreciation to the Pope as well as all those who had, in diverse ways assisted in shaping their lives to this stage for them to be conferred with such honour. The Monsignor was full of praise and particularly grateful to teachers who, he described as doing great jobs, saying that without their directives, counselling and sacrificial services they would not have had the opportunity to rise to their present levels. Monsignor is a title of honour in the church which means, "My Lord", a title assigned to Bishops. Monsignors therefore share equal status with Bishops in the church but unlike Bishops, they do not have cathedrals as their seats.

AGLOW PRAY TO AVERT HIGH RATE OF ACCIDENTS IN GHANA

Aglow International a Ghanaian NGO has organised a prayer in seeking Gods intervention ton avert the high rate of road accident in Ghana.The theme of the meeting was "Is there not a cause?". About 400 Ghanaians from various churches and organisations in the country attend the prayer meeting which was held at the independence square in Accra.Also present was the members of the Ghana road Safety Commission and the Ghana Health service.Speaking at the meeting the National President of Aglow International Mrs.Dorothy Danso called on drivers to discipline and careful on the road when driving. 'Ghanaians do not fear for shall be over,so far as we have prayed to God for forgiveness it shall be well with us". The National Prayer Director of Aglow ,Mrs Gifty Afenyi Dadzi attributed the recent high rate accident to the immoral,indiscipline and other anti social behaviours that made people to sin against God. "Therefore i ask Ghanaians to desist from these acts for God to have mercy on us an save us from evil ". Mrs Afenyi-Dadzi also charged Christians and other religious faith base organisations in the country to lead examplary lives worthy of emulation. "Lets pray for forgiveness".

ASANTE QUARAN LAUNCHED.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission,Ghana has formally launched the Asante translation of the holy Quaran in Accra.At the launch the head of the Mission Maulvi Wahab Adam said the importance of the translation was to aid all to understand the life and teaching of the Holy Prophet Muhammed . "This will contribute alot to society". The transilation which took approxemately five years was done by Ahaji Yusuf Ahmad Edusei a veteran Ahmadi Muslim missionary and funded by Ahaji Ibrahim Bonsu also a veteran Ahmadi Muslim missionary with an amount of 12,000 pound sterling for publication.He further stated that Harat Mirza Masroor Ahmad,Khalifatu Mashi V,the 5th successor to the founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community helped the translation to be pubublished in London. Mr.Wahab retirated that "the Holy Quaran was revealed to the Holy prophet of Islam,Muhammed on whom be peace and blessing of Allah. It is our belief that it is the final revealed law of Allah to man and will provide guidance for man to the end of time.That is why it has been preserved by Allah without a change even of a dot for 1500 years after revalation" .He encourage all Muslims who cannot read the arabic Quaran to use the new Asante Quaran.The Asante Quaran is for sale in all muslim Missionary bookshops throughout the country.

CATHOLIC CHURCH COMMENDED FOR ITS VISION-PRESIDENT MILLS.

President John Evans Atta Mills, has commended the wisdom and vision of the Catholic Church, which have helped contributed immensely to the development of the country. He said the church had not only contributed meaningfully to the educational and health sectors but it has also instilled Christian moral values and principles in the citizenry, which have culminated in the total wellbeing of the people.President Mills made the commendation in a speech, read on his behalf, by Mr. Mahmud Khalid, Upper West Regional Minister at the 40th Anniversary celebration of the Nandom Senior High School at Nandom at the weekend.The anniversary was on the theme: "Nandom Senior High School, the cradle of excellence in the era of the new educational reforms and the way forward."President Mills said the wealth and development of any nation was measured on the quality of its educational systems and the products they turned out to take up the developmental challenges of that nation. He said the type of training given to students and pupils at the basic and tertiary education levels must therefore conform to the changing demands of the present system and realities of the time. "Education is a strategic tool in the socio-economic development of the people and government is determined to develop a programme that would create an enabling environment for all children in the country to be provided with education," President Mills said. He said the neglect of basic infrastructural development of schools that resulted in some of them being labelled as "endowed and less endowed schools" and the poor academic performance of the less endowed ones was unfortunate.He said government would work hard to narrow the disparity in development by providing rural schools with logistics to improve their performance and stem migration.President Mills acknowledged the excellent performance of the Nandom Senior High School and said the school was among some of the best schools in the country that were the standards. He appealed to the teachers and students to do more to sustain the excellent performance of the school. He urged former students to continue to support their schools, noting: "without their support many schools would not be what they are today".He appealed to parents to monitor the progress of their children through regular visits to the schools and finding out from teachers the performance of their children. President Mills asked the school authorities to take stock of the challenges of the school and work assiduously to address them. He assured them that the government would take a critical look at some of the needs of the school and provide them to enhance progress. He tasked the Lawra District Assembly to provide a 10-seater- KVIP for the school. The Catholic Bishop of Wa, the Most Reverend Dr. Paul Bemile, said education should address the moral issues of society. "The injection of moral education into the educational system would make our products unique," he said. Mr. Khalid presented a GH¢1,000 to the school on behalf of President Mills.

CATHOLIC PRIEST WORRIED ABOUT RAMPANT CURSES IN SOCIETY.

Reverend Monsignor Thomas Manu, Vicar-General of the Konongo-Mampong Catholic Diocese, has expressed concern about the spate of invocation of curses on people by aggrieved persons.He said such an evil act being perpetuated by people including Christians had negative effects on humanity and it was time efforts were made to discourage people from such practices.Addressing members of the Saint Anthony Catholic Church at Ejisu on the effect of curses, Monsignor Manu attributed the increasing rate of deaths and suffering to the invocation of curses and other evil spirits on people by aggrieved persons including Christians. "Invocation of spirit is even condemned by traditionalists, then how come that Christians of today have started embracing it?" he asked. He said he was surprised at the way even some prominent politicians were using invocation to defend their political statements. Monsignor Manu advised Ghanaians, particularly Christians to put an end to such negative behaviour to make Christianity more attractive to others.

10th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION OF MAULD NABIYI MARKED.

The Hamdalla Youth Association of Shukura located in the Ablekuma Central constitutency led by Aliyou Zainul Abideen has marked the 10th Mauld Nayibi (SAW) in Accra. Mauld Nayibi means the celebration of the birthday of Prophet Mohammed.The celebration signify's unity among Islamic Ummah and used by elders to educate the youth.The celebration which falls on every 20th march according to the Islamic calender is specially used for recitation of the holy Quran.

The religious leader of the Association Aliyou Zainul Abideen said the program is also organised to help talk to their forefathers to keep protecting them. "Even though we have held various prayers a special pray will be held in the evening exactly 9:00pm in the presence of the National chief Imam,Shukura Chief Imam and the Member of Parliament for the constituency" he said. Zainul Abideen called on all moslems to observe the celebration and stay pure and holy in the name of the most mercyful and gracious Allah.

Brothers and sisters in Islam, ladies and gentlemen of the media community, the Coalition of Muslim Organization, Ghana (COMOG), warmly welcomes you to this press conference.
The aim of this press conference is to clear the air and correct any possible erroneous impressions or perceptions created by recent publications in sections of the media, especially the print, and attributed to a group of Muslims called CONCERNED MUSLIM FORUM, who presented a petition to the Iranian Cultural Consulate to register their displeasure at what they described as gross human rights abuses particularly against women in Iran.” We will also take this opportunity to advice our brothers and sisters of the FORUM, and others, on the need to be guided by the tenets of the Holy Quran on the importance and the strength in unity of the Muslim Ummah, even in the face of our sectarian schisms.

DRESS CODE FOR MUSLIM WOMEN IN IRAN
Ladies and Gentlemen: To the best of our knowledge at Coalition of Muslim Organisations, Ghana (COMOG), the dress code for women in the Islamic Republic Iran, and all Muslim women for that matter, is not an imposition by the Iranian authority or any other authority, but as enjoined by the Almighty Allah Himself in the Holy Quran 24:31 and 33:59.

WOMEN IN IRAN: SALIENT FACTS AND FIGURES
In response to the claim in the said petition that women in Iran are “perpetually denied a voice to air their grievances, COMOG conducted investigations and arrived at the following verifiable facts.

1. The Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran is a woman; her name is Her Excellency Dr Fatemeh Vacz.
2. In the year 2006, female employees in government ministries, department and agencies in the Islamic Republic of Iran numbered 788,000.
3. The 2006 census revealed the fact that 80% of females aged 6 years and above in the Islamic Republic of Iran was literate.
4. As of 2006, 23.79% of Iranians holding senior management positions in that country were Women.
5. By the 2007 census, 51% of employees in the Iranian Ministry of Education were Women.
6. In 2007 alone, Iranian women published 9,500 books.
7. In the same year 2007, 52% of the university student population in the Islamic Republic of Iran was Women.
8. Early last years (2008), 980 women NGOs were operating in Islamic Republic of Iran.

Ladies and gentlemen, brothers and sisters, these facts speak volumes for themselves. Are these the same women who, according to the Concerned Muslim Forum are “perpetually denied a voice to air their grievances” and subjected to constant arrest and repression?

We have names of prominent and world renowned Iranian women scholars like Dr. Mehri Bagheri, Dr. Tahereh Kaqazchi, Dr. Badrozaman Qarib, Dr. Amir Banoo Karimi, Dr. Prirokh Dadsetan, Dr. Afsaneh Safavi, Dr shoku Navabi Nezhad and Dr Shahrbanu Qriyan, to mention but a few, who have attained academic, professional and technological excellence in linguistics, chemical engineering, literature, psychology, chemistry and medicine. These female intellectual giants, some of whom are professors and professors-emeritus, have studied and lectured in western universities, such as Geneva University, Birmingham University, Pennsylvania University, Bradford University, Sheffield University, etc.

Are these among the Iranian women on whom a dress code is allegedly imposed? How could these women rise to their present world standards of excellence, if they had been subjected to constant human rights violations, arrests and repression, as alleged by the Forum.

GHANA AND THE ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF IRAN
The Islamic republic of Iran has consistently maintained its embassy, headed by a substantive Ambassador in Ghana since it was opened in 1983. Before 2008, when Ghana had not reopened its mission in Teheran, the Islamic Republic of Iran had been making considerable contributions towards the economy of Ghana and the well-being of Ghanaians in the following areas, among others:

HEALTH SERVICES
In addition to the Iran Clinic, which has been serving a sizable number of Ghanaians at highly subsidized fees, a full teaching hospital with modern equipments and facilities is to be built in Accra; work on it is to start this year. About four year ago, the Minister of Health of the Islamic Republic of Iran came to Ghana purposely to present to the Government of Ghana forty-one ambulances to augment the existing fleet for efficient and effective health service delivery to Ghanaians.
AGRICULTURE
Farming projects have been established, especially in the northern parts of Ghana, through Iran’s Agricultural and Rural Development (ARD) operations, needless to say that many Ghanaians including Muslims have benefited tremendously from these projects.
EDUCATION
The only Islamic University College in Ghana was established by the Islamic Republic of Iran for the benefit of Ghanaians.
THE OIL INDUSTRY
The Islamic Republic of Iran has over the years been the world’s second largest oil producer. With the recent discovery of oil in Ghana, our country has a lot to learn from the Islamic republic of Iran, in terms of experience in the industry, Petrol Chemical Engineering and the judicious exploitation of the precious product. To that end, COMOG has already commenced useful discussions with the Iranian authorities on the establishment of a Scholarship Scheme to sponsor qualified students to pursue courses in Petrol Chemical Engineering.

PROSPECTS IN BILATERAL TRADE AND OTHER RELATIONS
Among several official Ghanaian delegations to Iran is that of the Ghana Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which visited Iran in 2008. An Iranian Trade delegation is to visit Ghana next month with the aim of establishing and strengthening bilateral trade relations between both countries.

We wish however to state that such actions and utterances can discourage investors from Iran and other Muslim countries intending to invest in Ghana. In addition, it embarrasses the government of Ghana, which maintains very cordial relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Such action by the FORUM has the potential of undermining and even negating all the above-mentioned benefits Ghanaians have been enjoying over the years, as well as those to be derived from our continued cordial relationship with the Islamic Republic of Iran, especially when the allegations made against the country flies in the face of facts and figures on the ground as explained above.

We believe that our brothers and sisters from the FORUM are all Muslims who can also benefit one way or another, from Ghana’s good relationship with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

COMOG therefore calls on the FORUM and others with similar tendencies to put a stop to such actions and publications that are capable of injuring the larger interests of the Ghanaian, especially the Muslim Community. COMOG also calls on all Muslim sects in the country to be guided by the Holy Qur-aan, Chapter 21:32, and put an end to intra-Islamic and inter sectarian public controversies in the print and electronic media.

CONCLUSION
Finally, Ladies and Gentlemen, COMOG, as an umbrella Muslim organization, would like to make it crystal clear that the allegations made by the FORUM do not in any way represent the views of the COMOG, and indeed, the larger Ghanaian Muslim Community about the Islamic Republic of Iran.

COMOG therefore deeply regrets any embarrassment caused by the said action and publications by the FORUM, and we sincerely hope that this unfortunate incident will not be allowed to mar the very cordial diplomatic, cultural and economic relationship painstakingly nurtured over the years between the Republic of Ghana and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

COMOG will continue to remain all inclusive and all Muslims, be they Tijjaniyyah, Ahlussunna, Shia, or any others, in the spirit of Islam.

REV.SAM KORANCHI ANKRAH FETE THE OPHANAGE.

The General overseer of the Royal Chapel International Rev.Sam Koranchi Ankrah has held party for orphange children in the country in Accra.The Party which is held annually during christmas and year season brings orphans together to eat,drink,play and take away some goodies .Speaking at the ceremony the General Overseer of the church Rev. Sam Koranchi Ankrah urged the children to take what ever they are doing seriously to help succeed in life and should be respectful to all. "Do not forget your Lord thy God and live by his ways,so you can enter the kindom of God". Announcing the churchs package for the children through education, he said a scholarship package will be provided to brilint but needy students by the church to help them. "Early this year there will be a selection process to get the children their scholarship and hope the scholarship will cover alot of you present" .The kids played games such as music chairs,face painting dancing competition among others.

NANA KWAKU BONSAM HOSTED ON TV3 TODAY

Nana Kwakwu Bonsam a traditional Chief Priest was today hosted on TV3 on one of Ghana's local television network based in Accra. Nana Kwaku Bonsam who was questioned on knowing the winners of the just ended Presidential and Parliamentary Election by the host said "yes but was not ready to disclose it not on set or to anybody to prevent misderstanding among citizens to cause negative impact on the security of the state". He further added that a peacefully election that was reviled to him will still exit as he disclosed to journalists in a press conference before the elections at the press center in Accra. Various questions were asked by the host mainly on this years elections and trying to know how he came by the name Nana Kwaku Bonsam as local Ghanaian name. "Some of his services are ready to help in ; Be it spiritual guidance, business promotion, bareness, visa problems, marriage problems, want revenge, ?, etc...A lot of people have obtained help from me both locally and internationally. Evaluate your life. If there exist a problem, then email me".In his press conference before the elections he said his Gods sent message to his acclaimed targeted group in the country towards the forth coming elections that can jeopardize the peace in this country are; the politicians and media persons in Ghana. Kwaku Bonsam said his first sent message to politicians was that, some of them were planning to cause confusion during the 7th December elections. They plan to do this by using inflammatory languages against their opponents so as to generate an atmosphere of hatred which will be used as a platform to start unnecessary violence. He further claimed that the politicians in the country are use to telling lies about each other to also generate public hatred among them. Kwaku Bonsam also said the media been a powerful tool of the state and have a lot of influence on society which he fell a victim due to his inability to speak and write English will be convinced by some politicians to join them in spreading their fallacious statements. According to him, he saw journalists announcing fake results from polling stations and it resulted in a big controversy which shall turn bloody. He said he prayed over these problems and was directed to advise the groups. "AS for the politicians I have spoken to them in confidence .If they choose to ignore it that would not be my problem because I have played my role and they will face the punishment”. Kwaku Bonsam told the Journalists present that he sent to beg them not take sides or get passionate about anything on Election Day. “You can support whatever party you want but do it fairly."I do not intend teaching you your job but only telling you what I have seen; some statement from politicians should not be taken seriously as some of them might not bring peace”. He also pleaded with pastors to stop calling the pending election in favor of some political parties and also called on Ghanaians to leave peacefully among themselves in this election period. He said this year’s election will be a peaceful one and entreated all faith base organizations to keep praying as he is also doing. “I will not be surprise to hear people insulting me tomorrow after the media publication of this press conference”. His message was titled “Life is all about destiny, Discover your!!!”

LE GHANA RESTERA EN PAIX PENDANT LES ELECTIONS DU 7 DECEMBRE

Apostle Jonas Krah ministre de gospel et en charge de IPN(international prayer network)de la cote d'ivoire a dit que Jésus choisira le futur president du Ghana dans le calme et que le Ghana est un pays de paix dans la sous région.

En charge du ministère depuis plus de 20 ans.Mr Krah est le général de IPN en cote d'ivoire qui toujours souhaité aux Ghanaians une election de paix et de progrès.Depuis son arrivé en compagnie de sa femme qui est de nationalité ghanainne au Ghana,il a participé a plusieurs reuinions et de press conference pour propager le message de paix aux Ghanaians et leur fait savoir que sans paix il y aura pas de progrès et que l'afrique et le monde entier a son regard sur le Ghana pour vraiment savoir si la democratie peut exister en afrique.

Le 7 decembre sera un jour exceptionnelle,du faite que plus de 22 millions de Ghanaians seront devant les urnes pour élure leur futur president.
IPN encourage toute personne qui veut etre un membre de l'organisation et qui veut aussi connecter les membres de sa famille.
Mr Krah et son équipe continueront a prier l'année prochaine pour que les élections en cote d'ivoire se deroulent dans la paix avant de continuer pour la Guinée conakry .

CHRISTIAN COUNCIL SENSITIZE RELIGIOUS BODIES ON AIDS

The Christian Council of Ghana has organized a day forum in precedence of this years World AIDS Day celebration for religious bodies in Accra. The forum was themed "Religious leadership, reducing stigma and discrimination. At the forum the RT.Rev.Dr.Yaw frimpong Manso said it was necessary as religious bodies to go out to teach and educate the need for people to fraternize with People Living with HIV and AIDS (PLWHA).This will help create them believe that they have people to rely on and will be open to share their problems. He urged participants to live healthy life styles by not indulging in actions of promiscuity. The Director General of Ghana AIDS Commission Prof. S.A Amoa said the theme for this years World AIDS Day celebration is very appropriate because there is the great need for leadership at all levels to address issues including stigma and discrimination. Stigma and discrimination occur because of lack of knowledge, fear, sin and arrogance therefore these can be through education and it was gratifying to note that churches today recognize the important role expected of them in fighting against the epidemic. Various groups in the church can help by counseling people to change their negative attitudes and improve care and support of PLWHAs. He added that the publication of various policies by churches, the religious bodies should be seen as champions of the national HIV/AIDS campaign and exercises the required leadership. "The church needs to demonstrate in clear terms that the message of being your brothers keepers is not only talked about but practiced".Outlinig some progress of the commission he said HIV and AIDS continue to pose significant challenge to the economic development of Africa that is Africa about 70% of the virus burden. Comparing to Ghana he said the national prevalence rate was now 1.9%. The use of condom has also increase from 28% to 33% in women and from 44% to 52% in men .110 sites have also been establish to offer anti-retroviral treatments and 18,000 people living with HIV are on anti –retroviral drugs. Prof. Amoa called on the churches to support the various activities of the commission and also commended the Christian Council of Ghana for organizing the forum. December 2008 is slated for the World AIDS Day Celebration.

" NEED FOR PEACE"-REV.DR.ABBAN

The president of the International Prayer Network (IPN), Rev.Dr. Charles Abban has called for the need for peace during this year's Elections. Speaking in a press conference themed " A day of prayer for peaceful election 2008 " in Accra, the Reverend minister entreated media persons to go and explain to Ghanaians the need to pray for peace and practices peace before, during and after elections as defenders of young democracry . He entreated church leaders, chief, presidential candidates and civil society to observe a peaceful election this December. "Peace is always right and violence is wrong, peace is inherent in the wise, violence is an act of the fool, peace is rejection of all forms of violence, and war creates all forms of mischief, sadness, sorrow and death".Rev.Dr.Abban further added that "We who are Christians hold very dear to his advise that says ,love your neighbors as yourself. No religion in this countrydoes not go by this teaching therefore we should let peace prevail". He titled his message "Need for Peace" and it prech peace,essence and how to maintain peace in the country. He prayed that a good leader will be chosen by God himself.

CHRISTIAN BUSINESS AWARDS LAUNCHED

A first ever Christian Business Excellence Award was on Friday launched in Accra to reward and inspire business excellence within the Christian community. Dubbed; the International Christian Business Excellence (ICBE) awards, and being organized by Innovations Communications as the event organizers, the award is scheduled to be held in Accra on January 31, 2009.Mr. Ernest Sackey, Head of Public Affairs of the ICBE Secretariat, said the award was one of the most important proactive steps that the church could take to provide global business leadership. He listed the award categories as including best marketing organization, best Christian CEO, corporate woman and man of the year, Christian entrepreneur of the year, Christian print house of the year, business preacher of the year, best foreign Christian company of the year, Christian bookshop of the year and government Christian business ambassador. Others are: overall Christian company of the year, Business focused ministry of the year, best Christian business event of the year and best marketing organization of the year.Mr. Sackey explained that the ICBE award would create a united Christian platform to provide mentorship and international advocacy on Christian principles of business and also serve as opportunity to grow businesses within the Christian market bloc.Mr. Jones Kugblenu, Director of Public Affairs, House of Parliament, expressed Parliament's support for the awards program and urged the media to focus more attention to business news, especially Christian businesses and how they were helping to boost the economy. Mr. Joshua Oboum, Media Coordinator, ICBE, said the award would be an annual event that would reward awardees with plaques and citations to encourage them to do better in their business endeavors'.
