YOU WILL BE ON PROBATION FOR 18 MONTHS- COMMISSIONER OF POLICE.

The Commissioner of Police Paul Quaye have tasked the first batch of the 2009 new Police recruits to acquit themselves creditably if they want to remain as police men as their first eighteen months will be served on probation. "This period is considered as part of your practical training". He disclosed this at the formal passing out of the 2009 first batch of recruits at tthe national police training school in Accra. The 140 recruits have successfully completed their basic training programme from the training school made up of 46 males and 94 females with senior high school certificates. Mr Quaye said the recruits were introduced to the science of contemporary policing and other training such as academic disciplines,practical police duties,criminal law,criminal procedures,criminal investigation,law of evidence and acts and decrees. Others include police service instructions,basic officer skills policing ethics and reporting,weapon training,HIV/AIDS and arms and foot drill among others."The Police administration is proud and delighted whenever youthful and exubrant blood is injected into the service to augment the existing numerical strength" he said. The country does not need only more security personnel to fight and check the increasing spate of crime in the country especially armed robbery and drug trafficking which requires men and women of dedication,loyalty and the spirit of selflessness to reassure every citizen of a safe environmet devoid of crime and fear of crime. Mr.Quaye urged the new recruits to be of best standards especially fight negative tendencies creeping into the police service and work without blame to inspire public confidence. " Always be circumspect and work within the parameters and dictates of the police service act of 1970 and code of ethics of the Ghanaian constitution."We expect you to be in good relationship with the public for them to help us in our everyday activities as police man". Madam Borley Bortelley was awarded the overall best recruit .
