MOWAC PARTNER NBCF ON BREAST CANCER AWARENESS

Breast Cancer Awareness received a boost in the country at the inauguration of the Board of trustees and launching of the National Breast Cancer fund with a fund raising in Accra.

The event which took place at the forecourt of the ministry of Women and Children Affairs was attended by actors, stakeholders and the media in the health sector.

According to the Hon. Minister of Women and Children's Affairs; Hon.Hajia Alima Mahama, Breast cancer needed more attention and awareness for many have been suffering the scourge and attentiona is needed for towards the total development of the nation.

This is a frightening consideration of the fact that survival rate is very low due to low level of awareness, late detection and high cost of treatment which estimated between 20-30 million cedis, which the incidence of the disease in Ghana has been estimated at 50%-70% cases in every hundred thousand women in the country.

She said, the trust fund set up by the Board will certainly contribute towards bridging the gap in creating awareness, preventive approaches, provision of screening facilities, counseling services and also support financially to manage victims.

She further stated that, the proceeds of the funds raising would be handed over to the Board Of Trustees for public enlightment and financial support to all diagnosed the disease in thecount ry

She strongly appealled to Government, Health Practioners, NGO's, corporate bodies, Religious bodies and the General Public for their financial support to the Trust fund.

She said "all can donate to the short code code 1949 of the SG-SSB Bank".
