RUMOR MONGERS-PREZ KUFFOUR

"It is however unfortunate to remark that a greater number of Ghanaians are working hard to enhance Ghana's image both at home and abroad to attract more investments, there are also a tiny minority going round and making unsubstantial allegations of plans by government to rig elections without any shade of proof and thereby raise unnecessary doubts about the credibility of the forth coming polls, tainting, the image and reputation of the country as well as creating avoidable political tension. We say they are rumor mongers". This was contained in a speech by the President of Ghana John Agyekum Kufour on the occasion of the conference of heads of Ghana Diplomatic Missions in Accra. "It is important for us to understand the current electoral system; this will help us achieve the national vision of good governance".Mr. Kuffuor said his government inherited an economy full of difficult economic situation that was on the brink of collapse but his government with his good policies have turn it the other way round. There are still some challenges to be over comed to make Ghana a middle income country. He further stated that the newly discovered oil in the Ghana will assist in building a modern economy based on the development of science and technology. This will lead to rapid infrastructural development, creation of employment through a diversified economy. "I hope the next government will continue with progressive economic policies which have brought us this far". President Kuffour reiterated that Ghana's foreign policy of "Good Neighbourliness" with countries far and near is very important. This has promoted peace, co-existence and more trade with the sub regions of Africa. The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and Nepad Akwasi Osei-Adjei urged diplomats to get themselves informed in matters of Ghana especially the country's current development and present them to their host government in authentic ways to guard against misunderstanding.
