G.E.A LAUNCHES OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH MANUAL

The Ghana Employer's Association (GEA), BUSAC in collaboration with Employers Coalition on Occupational safety and Health (ECOSH) yesterday launched an occupational safety and health manual in Accra. The manual which is a voluntary compliance programs (VCP); contains policies and procedures of ensuring safety at the work place. The manual has five chapters which include the introduction, reponsibilites, requirements for participating sites, participation decisions and management and enforcing activities at voluntary program sites. Launching the manual the Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Employers Association Rose Karikari Anang said safety was very important for all especially at the work place, therefore urged all employers to acquire the manual. "This will help in reducing some of the accidents in the factories among others". It is important to comply with safety and health management systems because one does not know what happen next. She urged employers to cultivate the culture of compliance. Rose Anang congratulated the team who through their hard wok brought the manual to fruition to help both the industrial and business sector of the economy.s
