The minister for Information and National Orientation Stephen Asamoah Boateng has formally opened the ICT development training centre at his ministry in Accra. At the opening, the minister commended the IT staff of the Information Services Department (ISD) for mooting the idea and drafting of the project proposal for consideration. Outlining the purpose of the of the ICT centre, he said it was to assist challenges posed to digital aged information officers as it was critical to the realization of their mandate. And to be able to face these challenges for the socio-economic, political and cultural advancement of our economy, it was necessary building the centre which will also assist the various ministries, department, and agencies (MDAs).Mr. Stephen Asamoah boating added that government is making effort to upgrade the capacity and scope of the Ghana portal with the framework of E-Ghana project being under taking by the ministry of communication with the support of World Bank. "The rate at which technology itself is changing, if we drag our feet we shall be overtaken by events. I hope that all employees of MDAs who will be given the opportunity to train at this centre will approach the programme with a sense of urgency and purposefulness". He thanked development partners like the UNDP and IICD for funding the project. In a related development the minister awarded hardworking staff of the ministry a day before the opening of the centre. He said the awards were his own initiative funded by government to motivate staff to deliver excellently. "I promise that this will continue even if am out here to continue motivating our staff".Mr.Asamoah Boateng also donated various item such as radio, television sets,scanners,steel cabinet, fridges,speakers among others to the various departments of his ministry
