Captain George Nfodjo (Rtd), Member of Parliament (MP) for Ho Central on Monday urged foreign students visiting Ghana to tell their compatriots about the positive things they saw and experienced in Ghana.Captain Nfodjo made the call at a durbar of the Chiefs and people of Sokode Traditional Area in honour of a delegation of students and staff of Elon University of North Carolina, USA.He said the warmth and hospitality of Ghanaians, efforts at development, democratic governance, diverse culture and many positive things were worth talking about in the USA and Europe, where only negative stories about Africa made news headlines.The visit, an annual affair initiated by Captain Nfodjo eight years ago, has seen the university supporting formal education and agricultural activities in the Sokode Traditional Area. This year's delegation led by Professor Brian Digre, Co-ordinator of International Studies Major, has presented components of eight groundnut shelling machines to groundnut farmers at Sokode-Ando.He also presented a cheque for US$100.00 in support of kindergarten education, GH¢1000.00 towards Junior High School education, GH¢500.00 in support of students at Ho Polytechnic from the Sokode Traditional Area and a Lap-top Computer and education materials. Togbe Fia Koku III, Paramount Chief of the Sokode Traditional Area said the relationship between Elon University and the traditional area had resulted in tremendous improvements in formal education and income generating activities.
