INFLATION STANDS AT 18.13% FOR DECEMBER 2008.

The annual inflation rate for December 2008 was 18.13% with a corresponding figure of 17.44% last year november.Looking at the consumer price index,it measured the rate chage in general price levels in the country,as experienced by consumers with reference to the price level in 2002,which set to 100.
Taking a look at the inflation trend over the year,the lowest rate inflation for 2008 was recorded in January at 12.81%. This figure rose steadily to 18.41 % where a the highest trend was realised and a gradule decline in June andOctober at 17.30% before the onset of the rate increase in Novemberat 17.44%.With the differentials inflation recorded in the regions ranged from 23.96% in the Northern Region to 13.85% in the VoltaRegion.Other six regions recorded inflation rates above the national rate of 18.13 %.The Chief government Statistician who announced the report said the level of inlation trend for the new year can not be realised now but hoped gor the best .
