CIVIL SOCIETY COALITIONS COLLABORATE TO IMPROVE BETTER LIVING CONDITIONS

Non governmental organization into water, health.education, water and sanitation is to work together to support government and its implementing agencies and help provide essential services to the public with out any impediment. The objective of the platform is to promote linkage between the various NGOs around a common agenda for human development and social justice. Speaking at a press conference in Accra.,Mr.Alhassan Andani the southern sector coordinator of the coalition said the coalition is also to enable them harmonize their programs and ensure that they work to compliment each other. "With belive in the fundamental human rights for all, the platform sees the provision of essential services as a Social contract and will work to promote that". Outlinig some of the challenges, he said implementers of all the sectors battle with the effects of illiteracy and food security, degradation of environment, militarism and conflict. The launch of the essential services platform organized by ISODEC is to help enhance the lives of the vulnerable. Mr. Andani concluded that some of the solutions to these problems are not leaving citizen especially vulnerable groups such as women and children at the mercy of private service providers. The provision of basic social services largely becomes the duty of the state, in line with universal principles on human rights.
