I VOW TO SHARE THE NATIONAL CAKE AMONG ALL -PROF ATTA MILLS

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential aspirant professor John Evans Atta Mills has vowed to share the nation's resources for the benefit of all Ghanaians, if elected on December 7 to govern the country. The party will also observe transparency, honesty and involve the masses in governance to avoid mistrust as well as run an economy that would give relief to the people.Professor Atta Mills gave the assurance at NDC rally at the Akodzo School Park at Tema Community yersterday , to round off its national campaign for the polls.Addressing party supporters who had defied a sudden 20 minutes heavy down pour to participate in the event, the NDC presidential candidate said he would ensure equitable distribution of the national cake since it belonged to all Ghanaians. Prof Mills wondered how long Ghanaians would continue to pay for the debt recovery of fuel incurred by the Tema Oil Refinery. He promised that an NDC government under his leadership would reduce the prices of petroleum products since the world price on oil has reduced drastically.Prof. Mills appealed to NDC sympathizers and supporters to vote massively for the party to return to power to enable it to achieve its laudable goals.He advised them against complacency instead they should be vigilant at the polling stations to avoid rigging.Prof. Mills said the NDC would resist any attempt by any people to circumvent the rules of the nation because when the party was in power, it ensured a peaceful atmosphere.The NDC presidential candidate said he would expect the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to hand over peacefully to the NDC on January 7, 2009, if the NDC wins the elections.Prof Mills said this time round the NDC would sweep more votes in the Central Region just like in the Volta Region. He expressed gratitude to former President Jerry John Rawlings and Mr. Paul Victor Obeng, former Presidential advisor, for giving him moral support which has helped him to progress. Former President Rawlings expressed regretted about indiscipline among the youth under the NPP Government to such an extent that they do not have respect for the aged.He said that the NDC Government would reserve the situation if it was returned to power, and urged NDC supporters to comport themselves on December 7 to avoid accidents and ensure incident-free elections. Mr. Dan Abodakpi, NDC Member of Parliament (MP) for Keta, expressed optimism that NDC would win the elections to enable it to revitalize the country's industries to create jobs for the youth and give a boost to the private sector, the backbone of the country's economy. Mr. Abodakpi said Prof. Atta Mills's administration would take a second look at labour laws to safeguard the interest of all Ghanaians while the trade liberalization programme would be reviewed for Ghana's products to compete on the international market. He said the NDC would assure the growth of the fishing industry by banning the use of lightning in fishing.Mr. Abodakpi said stringent measures would be taken to avoid the smuggling of contraband goods at the country's entry points.
