WATER,SANITATION AND HYGIENE GREAT CONCERN TO GOVERNMENT.

In a just ended workshop on rope pump technology in Accra paricipants have outlined water,sanitation and hygiene as one big problem of various government in Ghana. One of the major challenge that rural folks face in Ghana is the rural water delivery, which has been the high cost piont sources probably due to the use of conventional hand pumps which are mostly imported.The rope has been was found to be more efficient,cost effective and can be managed by all.The technology which was leaarnt from Nicaragua by Ghanaians is now been learnt by Burkina Faso.The workshop objectives was to advocate for a concerted sectorwide effort to improve the technology and promote its usage,to engender public sector interest in the rope pump and improve the understanding of the rope pump as a device that can play a significant role in increasing access to water and contributing to achieving Ghana's MDG target on water among sector players.
