PRESS RELEASE ON GERMAN -GHANA ACADEMIC COOPERATION.


The KNUST Business School is hosting a major event highlighting German-Ghanaian academic cooperation in Kumasi on March 24.

In cooperation with the of this renowned institution organize a four-day seminar on the topic of "Managing Africa's Resources Sustainably". This seminar will bring together representatives of business, public institutions and academia to discuss this very topical issue for Ghana’s immediate economic and social development. Academic Professors from Freiberg, Germany will be part of this seminar.

The Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Accra, Mr. Hans Christian Winkler, will be present in Kumasi on March 24 and deliver a speech on recent developments in Germany's scientific cooperation. Germany is more than ever
increasing its scientific cooperation with partner countries in Africa.

Ghana is hosting two major scientific institutions where Germany and Ghana are cooperating very closely with programmes such as the ARPPIS at the University of Ghana, Legon the Center of Excellence in Developmental Studies and the SPRING programme at the KNUST, Kumasi the Center for Spatial Economy in Cooperation with the University of Dortmund.

In 2008 the German Government funded about 250 scholarships to both Ghanaian as well as German individuals through its Academic Exchange Service, DAAD, to foster the mutual cooperation.
All these recent development will be highlighted in a speech by the Director of the Centre of the German Academic Exchange Service, DAAD, Dr. Heike Edelmann-Okinda
