REGIONAL AND DISTRICT ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH OFFICERS MEET IN ACCRA.

The Regional and District health officers in Ghana has met in Accra for discussions.The meeting was themed "Sustaining cleanliness in our communities". Speaking at the meeting,the Minister for Local Government and Rural Development Mr. Joseph Chireh said, the environmental health officers must be part of any efforts in finding answers to questions of cleanliness in the country both at the national,regional and district level. The theme for this meeting "seeks to come up with practical recommendations and way forward".He said his Ministry will be developing strategies and actions for the effective implementation of policy actions addressing key challenges such as capacity development,education and communication, legal and regulatory framework and monotoring and evalution among others. The minister retirated president Mills state of the nations address on the role of sanitation "Many of common ailments and diseases affecting Ghanaians can be eliminated or controlled through better sanitation,nutrition,and lifestyles. Accordingly,we will encourage all MMDAs to embark upon major multi-sector collaborations with the view of improving sanitation and targeting safe food and water.We will ensure that district Asseblies,besides developing relevant regulations and guidelines will also implement and enforce them".
